9/10/2024 0 Comments Happy mail challengeIt's been a long time since I've written here. I would like to start a new challenge. It was inspired by something my sister once wrote on a bulletin board at her workplace for Mental Health Awareness month. This is my variation of her words: "Be kind to everyone. Sometimes you never know what else is happening in the lives of others."
So welcome to the Happy Mail Challenge. I invite you to send at least 10 cards in the mail during the month of September (or any other month if you are reading this later). Not text. Not email. Snail mail--yes, it is slower, but so often we only receive bills and junk mail. Give someone a reason to get happy about mail. Send a card to anyone you know who you think might appreciate one. Again, you never know when you may say words someone needs to hear that day. If you have children consider encouraging them to help. As much as I love the idea of "just because" cards, here are some more specific ideas: 1. A card to the person you who love most dearly. (So they know without a doubt that they are loved, and have it in your own handwriting if possible.) 2. A card for a child you care about who probably doesn't get much mail. 3. A card to someone in a helping profession (doctor, nurse, counselor, teacher, etc.) 4. The thank you that you wish you had said a long time ago 5. An “I appreciate you” to a friend who is a great listener. 6. A card to a person who struggles with depression, anxiety, or other mental health challenges. 7. A card for someone transitioning to a new city, job, or relationship. 8. “I’m here for you” card for someone going through a new challenge (aging parents, new divorce, new school, etc.) 9. A thank you to someone who brings sunshine to your life. 10. A card to someone who provides a service but might not be thanked very often for what they do. 11. A card for someone going through health struggles. 12. A card for any person who has made a difference in your life. Many of the ideas on this list come from a small card company called Tiny and Snail, owned by two sisters. I highly suggest reading their story if you want to be inspired. If you choose to participate, I would love to hear from you, particularly if you have a special story you would like to share about your experience with this project. Also please consider sharing this post to help it reach as many people as possible.
