Stories are meant to be shared. With cell phones and iPads, it's also easier than ever to record a story to be shared with family and loved ones.
One of the favorite things I've ever done was to interview my great aunt, our family's oldest living relative. Family members were asked to submit questions. The result was made into a movie that was shared with the whole family. To say that we all learned a lot would underestimate the value of this gift.
If you don't want your video to be public, Vimeo and Youtube both have ways to make videos private. I really like the feature on Vimeo that allows a person to download a video if that option has been selected by the person who uploaded it to the site. Then family members can have their own copies.
P.S. Consider getting a small portable tripod for your phone or tablet!
